Over the last few years, Real Madrid has been assembling all the pieces for their unbelievably talented squad that will lead the club to copious amounts of success for years to come. The squad is filled with world-class talent at almost every position on the pitch, which makes Real Madrid one of the most formidable teams to face on any matchday.
While the attack and midfield are the most talented areas in the Real Madrid squad, if the club wants to embrace the moniker of "Best squad in the world" the defense could use some reinforcements.
When looking at the squad on paper, it is lacking somewhat in the full-back department. With Dani Carvajal getting older and starting to succumb to injuries more and both Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy not convincing Carlo Ancelotti at left-back, the club could be looking to bring a former player back to the club but could face stiff competition from a top European rival.
Real Madrid face competition from Manchester City for top full-back
As reported by TEAMtalk, Manchester City could rival Real Madrid for the signing of AC Milan full-back Theo Hernandez as his contract talks with the club have stalled and a summer move looks to be on the horizon.
Hernandez left Los Blancos in 2019 for a new venture at AC Milan where he has established himself as one of the top left-back in Europe. His contract with Milan expires in 2026 and an extension seems unlikely. The Frenchman is expected to have a number of suitors with Real Madrid being the front runner but they could face tough competition from other top clubs.
Earlier this season, AC Milan gave Como the green light to sign the Frenchman for around €50 million but he was not interested in the move. With Milan looking to do anything they can to offload Hernandez they are willing to lower their transfer fee demands and would accept a fee of around €35 million which is a fee that is realistic for Real Madrid this summer.
