Real Madrid's chances of re-signing Nico Paz have seemingly improved amid suggestions that a return might be on the cards. The Argentine attacker is linked with a move back to the Santiago Bernabeu amid a sensational spell at Como in Italy.

Paz left Madrid for Como in August 2024 for €6 million but ensured a €9 million buy-back clause was inserted in his contract. He has starred under Cesc Fabregas, posting 10 goals and six assists in 30 games across competitions.

Los Blancos have monitored his progress in Italy and are considering using their buy-back clause this summer. But there are reports indicating that the player is eyeing a move to Inter Milan who are also showing interest.

Nico Paz's transfer saga new twist

Paz made just eight senior appearances for Madrid before leaving for Como. He has perhaps proven his former club wrong for selling him given their interest.

Ekrem Konur has given an update on the situation and he claims a return is still a possibility. He wrote on X:

"Nico Paz could return to Real Madrid this summer! Buy-back option → under €10M."

Konur pointed out that Como are "confident he will stay" and that he is considered a key player and that includes for next season. But the report suggests Madrid are still in the picture regarding the player's future.

Los Blancos are desperate to add more creativity to their squad amid a frustrating season. The failure to replace Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have resulted in a clear lack of a playmaker in the middle of the park.

Paz fits the bill for Madrid having starred in a number 10 role with his impressive dribbling abilities and elegance. The chance to sign him for such a low fee is hard to ignore but it remains uncertain whether the Argentine is on board about making the switch.

Brahim Diaz could make way

If Paz were to arrive at Madrid it's likely at least one player with a similar profile will depart this summer. The obvious choice is Brahim Diaz given the Moroccan's lack of game time this season.

Brahim has started just three of 18 La Liga games, registering five assists. He is playing a bit-part role in Alvaro Arbeloa's team and will likely want more football at this stage of his career.

The Moroccan returned to Madrid from AC Milan in early 2019 but has failed to reach expectations for several reasons. He will have a year left on his contract in the summer and was linked with Tottenham Hotspur in January.
