Real Madrid manager José Mourinho is reportedly furious about what happened with the entire Rodri situation on Thursday.
The Real Madrid manager did not specifically ask the club to sign Rodri, but he did ask them to sign a midfielder because he deemed it necessary for the team to have an extra midfielder in the squad.
According to Sergio Valentín, the club rejected all the names that Mourinho gave them in terms of midfield signings, and then informed him that they were going to try to sign Rodri.
This obviously would've satisfied Mourinho, according to the journalist, but he is now left furious as to why the player was not signed.
Presumably, he will be even more frustrated because the player not only did not join Real Madrid, but also went to the club’s biggest rivals, Barcelona.

Barcelona now have the best defensive midfielder in the world, as he showed in the World Cup, and they already had a really good midfield before Rodri was even signed.
Their midfield consists of the likes of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and many others who were already performing better as a collective than Real Madrid in the last couple of seasons, as they won the league for two consecutive years.
Now they add Rodri to this team, and it just does not look like they are going to give the ball away anymore.
Mourinho’s anger is definitely justified because he wanted a midfielder in the team who could control the tempo of the game, pass the ball around, and keep possession for as long as possible.
These are the little things that matter so much in the current age of football. These are also the things that have given Real Madrid so many problems in the last two years, because their midfield just does not have a profile like Rodri.
They do not have a midfielder who is comfortable receiving the ball in deep areas - especial and dictating play from there.
So it does make sense why Mourinho is losing it, and I do hope that he goes to the board and tells them how he feels about the situation, because he is one of the few managers who can properly do that.
Real Madrid have backed Mourinho all summer long with so many big signings, and while that is brilliant, they missed out on the most important one that would have given them the tools needed to be successful for the next three or four years.
Without Rodri, and without a player who can offer that same level of control, Real Madrid are left struggling with the same issues that have haunted them over the last two years.
