Real Madrid interested in €60 million Spanish midfielder

On paper, Real Madrid have arguably the strongest squad in all of Europe. The squad is filled with world class talent in positions all over the pitch, making it one of the most formidable squads in the world. The club has an eye for building the perfectly balanced squad of both veteran and younger players.

However, even with the sheer amount of talent in the squad, Real Madrid have struggled to much consistency together this season. There has been a range of up and down performances from players that were expected to have standout seasons this year.

One place Real Madrid have been struggling this season is in the midfield. After the retirement of Toni Kroos, the midfield has noticeably struggled in his absence. His tempo controlling and ability to pick out switches of play is clearly missed, leaving the club scratching their heads at what to do next.

With the midfield clearly struggling this season, Real Madrid are looking at options who could come in and fill the hole that Toni Kroos left in the midfield, and it seems the club have their eyes on a fellow La Liga midfielder.

As being reported by Marca, Real Madrid are interested in bringing in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi to strengthen their struggling midfield in the summer transfer window.

Zubimendi has emerged as a key player for Real Sociedad in the past few seasons, becoming one of the most reliable midfielders in La Liga. His consistency and tempo controlling ability has caught the eyes of many top European clubs, including Real Madrid.

The Spaniard has a release clause of €60 million, which makes him a somewhat costly yet still attractive midfield option for Los Blancos. If Real Madrid hope to secure his signature they will have to put up with competition from other top European clubs like Liverpool, who were close to signing Zubimendi this past summer.

Liverpool are believed to remain interested in signing Martin Zubimendi, according to Express. Therefore, there could be another battle between Liverpool and Real this season - This time, off the pitch.
