Toni Kroos and Vinicius Junior enjoyed a great spell together at Real Madrid. Playing in one of the most dominant Real Madrid teams of all-time, the two players at opposite ends of their career sparked a great relationship.
Playing in the Bundesliga and La Liga, Toni Kroos has seen many great players in action. However, he took a particular liking to Vinicius Junior, mentoring him at the beginning of his Real Madrid career.
So, it's no surprise to see how well Vinicius Junior has flourished. After all, he was given support from Toni Kroos and other Real Madrid legends.
Toni Kroos sticks up for Vinicius Junior after 2024 Ballon d’Or snub
Toni Kroos was named within the 2024 Ballon d'Or rankings himself, for his final season in professional football. However, he showed more support for his former teammate Vinicius Junior.
Posting to Instagram, Toni Kroos published a picture of himself and Vincius Junior. He captioned the post with a simple two-word analysis "The best."
Vinicius Junior commented on the post, saying "te quiero, Antonio." Te quiero translates to "I love you" in English, showing the love that the two players struck while at Real Madrid.
In case you missed it, Vinicius Junior came second in the Ballon d'Or rankings. This is despite many fans of the game thinking he deserved to win the award.
Toni Kroos is not afraid to voice his opinion. He has shown time and time again that he isn't bound by PR guidelines and he very much values his perception of the truth.
So, fans are reading between the lines here. Of course, it seems obvious that Toni Kroos is hinting that Vinicius Junior deserved to win the award. Kroos is not alone in thinking this, as the general consensus was that Vini would lift the golden ball.
