Real Madrid have not finished their business in the transfer market this season. They were in short of depth in so many positions last season, and now, they are building their squad brick by brick.

Real Madrid have worked to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Franco Mastantuono already, and it is not even July. However, there are plenty of reports saying that the work is not done.

Real Madrid still need a left-back. They might need to sell a few players too, because of one reason or the other. And, finally, there is a position which they may not be short in, but they need a profile that they do not have.

Xabi Alonso wants the club to sign a Joselu-type striker this summer, and it would make sense to go for a cheap option who would be willing to sit on the bench.

Mario Cortegana of The Athletic also reported that they were actually offered a striker who fits the profile in terms of quality, but they said no.

One of the few differences was that it was a striker literally every single club wants to sign at the moment.

Cortegana reported that Real Madrid had the opportunity to sign Viktor Gyokeres, but they rejected the player for a number of reasons.

Gyokeres has been in the hunt for a new club, and teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United have all shown interest in the striker who scored the most goals in all of Europe last season.

Cortegana says that the club rejected the possibility due to the price tag, and the fact that he would want a starting role, which Real Madrid are not willing to give.

They do want another striker, though, which would help the club in more ways than one, Real Madrid missed that profile last season, and Alonso really wants them to focus on it. It remains to be seen what Los Blancos end up doing, but they are currently assessing their options.
