Real Madrid are expecting a number of veteran players to depart once their contracts expire in the summer. Vets like David Alaba and Dani Carvajal aren't expected to renew their deals with the club, and are expected to take the next step in their careers. Another is Antonio Rudiger, the German only has a few months left on his contract and has attracted a number of potential suitors, with another European giant now joining the list.
As reported by Christian Falk on X, Juventus are the latest team to show interest in signing Antonio Rudiger asa free agent in the summer, with the Italian giants looking to bring in some more veteran experience as they are going through somewhat of a rebuild themselves.
Real Madrid: A new club just entered Rudiger race amid Tottenham interest
The 33-year-old has be a loyal servant to the club since his arrival in the summer of 2022 and has played a crucial part in the success the club has achieved in his time with them. Many expected Rudiger to mostly be a backup but due to injuries to David Alaba and Eder Militao, Rudiger has been a consistent starter, and has showed that even at 33-years-old he still has plenty left in the tank to offer.
The highlight of the German's time at the Bernabeu came during the 2023/24 season, where Rudiger played some of his best football and was a crucial part of Real's record 15th Champions League triumph. Rudiger has had a solid season for Los Blancos as a consistent starter for Arbeloa, showing is reliability during yet another injury riddled season in the central defender department.
However we can all see the direction the club is going, the club is aiming to make the squad younger and despite all that he's done in his time at the club, Rudiger doesn't fit the future plans of the club and with the club bringing in Dean Huijsen last summer, and looking to bring in two more younger central defenders this summer, Rudiger unfortunately no longer has a place in the team in the clubs eyes.
As mentioned earlier, Rudiger is only 33-years-old and still has plenty left in the tank he can offer, and as a result a number of clubs have shown interest in signing the defender as a free agent. Tottenham and Al Nassr have been linked with a move for the veteran with Juventus the latest to join the list. Where exactly Rudiger will end up playing next season remains unknown at the moment, but for whichever club he goes to, they will be getting a player who plays with limitless passion and plays for the badge, something that is rare to come by in the modern game.
