Real Madrid are expected to undergo a major squad overhaul this summer as the club looks to reshape the squad. Several players are expected to arrive to help address the issues that have plagued the club over the last few years.
Not only are new arrivals expected in the summer, but a number of departures are also expected to make way for signings as a number of players are expected to step into the next chapter of their careers. David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia are among those who are tipped to leave in the summer as they no longer have guaranteed places in the first team.
Another player expected to depart in the summer is defender Antonio Rudiger. The German is out of contract in the summer, and with Real planning on signing a new central defender in the summer, Rudiger seems to no longer be in the club's plans and as a result, he has been assessing his options, and it seems he could be set for a return to the Premier League.
Tottenham seemingly swoop for Real Madrid's Rudiger
As reported by Topskills Sports UK, Rudiger has said 'yes' to joining Tottenham this summer once his contract expires at the end of the season. The German is yet to be offered an extension, and all signs point to his time at the Bernabeu coming to an end in June.
The former Chelsea defender is poised for a Premier League return with Spurs being the most likely destination provided everything goes as planned. These reports should be taken with a grain of salt as this isn't a reputable source, but all signs point towards the player leaving for North London.
Rudiger arrived at Real as a free agent in the summer of 2022 and has been a loyal servant to the club, stepping up in an especially big way during the incredibly successful 23/24 season. However, injuries have hampered the German over the last two seasons and with the club looking to make the squad younger, the 32-year-old seems closer to the door than to the pitch.
In the past the defender has been linked with a move to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr but now seems to be eyeing a return to the Premier League. Although injuries have been catching up to the defender, he still has a lot to offer when he's fully healthy and would be a great veteran signing for whichever club ends up signing the German following his anticipated departure.
