Real Madrid legend Casemiro has been linked with a transfer to Roma, finally putting an end to his Manchester United torment.
Casemiro played for Real Madrid between the years of 2013-2022, after signing permanently from São Paulo. The Brazilian midfielder achieved plenty of success in the Royal White jersey, lifting five Champions Leagues and three La Ligas in the club's most dominant period.
Mostly remembered for his incredible engine and ability to be here, there and everywhere, Casemiro redefined what it meant to be a Real Madrid midfielder. In a team filled with technical maestros, Casemiro won the hearts of Madridistas for his commitment to fighting for every ball.
When Casemiro made the switch to Manchester United, it was difficult to take. However, the safety of the Real Madrid midfielder was thought to be on lock.
Lo and behold, Casemiro did not have a great time at Manchester United.
Real Madrid legend linked to Roma transfer which he simply must take
According to a report from English outlet The Daily Mail, Roma are set to launch a shocking move for Casemiro. They would like to bring him to the Italian capital on loan until the end of the season.
This move might depend on Roma selling Leandro Paredes. If the midfielder is sold before the end of the window, then they view Casemiro as a great replacement, at least until the end of the season.
It shouldn't come as a surprise to hear that Casemiro is willing for the move to go ahead. Given his troubled time at Old Trafford, it would benefit him to experience some new surroundings.
As it stands, Roma are underachieving in the Italian top flight. They sit ninth in Serie A after an awful first half of the season. That said, new (and old) manager Claudio Ranieri will hope he's got the ship settled again, as they are unbeaten in their last six Serie A games.
Roma are still within a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League, so signing Casemiro would be beneficial there given his experience in European competition. To achieve qualification, Roma need to go through the play-off route (likely the same as Real Madrid).
From a Real Madrid perspective, we are rooting for Casemiro to move away from Man United. The Red Devils are not the same dominant force as they once were and frankly, playing there has hindered Casemiro's career.
