A Real Madrid legend has issued a stern but necessary warning to Kylian Mbappe. As someone who has been there before, Mbappe must listen to his guidance.

Real Madrid rocked the footballing world when they announced the signing of Kylian Mbappe. While the free transfer was expected, it was a deal which was bound to have a ripple effect on other sides.

However, it is fair to say that Kylian Mbappe has not brought his usual X-factor with him to the Spanish capital. During his short stint at the club, Mbappe has scored seven goals in 13 appearances for Real Madrid. It is eight in 14, counting the UEFA Super Cup.

This is not a disastrous tally and Real Madrid fans must not burn their Mbappe jerseys at this stage. However, given the standards the superstar has set in the past, fans are right to ask for more from him.

Speaking to El Chiringuito TV, Karim Benzema has warned Kylian Mbappe that if he does not score within two or three games, they (assumed to be Real Madrid fans and the media) will kill him.

In his own words (courtesy of a translation by Football España), Benzema said: " knows that it’s different at Real Madrid, that if you don’t score for two or three games, they’ll kill you. He can win the Ballon d’Or, and three games later, again. He has to learn to live with that, and put a ‘good pressure’ on himself. Every game is a new game, and he has to score goals."

Overall, Benzema was positive about his countryman. He believes in Mbappe's ability to live up to the forceful pressure of playing for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid is the best club in the world but this means that playing for the side is not entirely glamorous. Players must earn the right to wear the heavy jersey, which has both made and broke players respectively.

The consensus is that Kylian Mbappe is one of those players who will thrive under the pressure of Real Madrid. Certainly, Karim Benzema is leaning towards this viewpoint.

However, it is now a case of Kylian Mbappe feeling the pressure and using it as motivation. His first handful of games would have been nerve-enduing, for sure, but now he must kick on and put together some scoring momentum. This way, he will win over the fans even more.
