Real Madrid may be focusing on departures at the moment, but that does not mean they will not be there if some market opportunities present themselves.
That is what Fabrizio Romano once said when it came down to whether Real Madrid will make any more signings, and it may yet happen.
That does not mean Real Madrid will sign a midfielder this month, but there is reason to believe they may do so.
The club have been trying to sell Dani Ceballos to Marseille in the last few days, and even though an agreement, according to Fabrizio Romano, is tough, they will still keep trying.
On the other hand, Real Madrid are closely monitoring the situation of Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, according to a report from Mike Keegan of Daily Mail.
Kobbie Mainoo could be huge for Real Madrid
Real Madrid could hugely benefit from the signing of a player like Mainoo. He is really young - only x years of age - and he could provide a lot to that midfield, which has honestly seen better days.
Real Madrid need depth in that midfield - especially if Ceballos is really leaving the club before the end of the summer transfer window. If that happens, a move for Mainoo should be accelerated.
This is not to say Mainoo will be signed this season - or even next season, but there is hope that if Real Madrid are attentive to Mainoo's situation, they could pounce if the player decides he should leave the club.
That would be beneficial for Real Madrid, and could prove to be a better investment than many because of the absurd talent that he has. Mainoo needs to develop a bit physically, but apart from that, I don't see a big reason why he has not been playing that much for Manchester United.
If Real Madrid are smart enough about it - and fight off competition from Atletico Madrid - they could get him for a good price, and if that happens, Real Madrid's midfield will have some much-needed depth, with a tinge of brilliant quality.
