The current season has provided Real Madrid with several opportunities to reflect and grow. Despite its star players, the club is nothing without effective bench tactics. Although the injuries are unexpected, preparation is essential. However, luck has always favored Los Blancos, but for how long can they rely on it?
It is time for management to take its business seriously and focus on the coming future that stares at Madrid from the wide abyss. Provisions for the biggest setbacks must be made, and deadwood must be removed. All of these things must be completed as soon as possible in order for Real Madrid to regain its former supremacy.
First and foremost, the club must release players who are no longer contributing to the squad. Players who have passed their peak and are just unsuitable for a position here. Los Blancos need to get rid of three players that are easily identifiable in this group.
1. Lucas Vazquez
Game after game, the Spaniard demonstrates why he is no longer deserving of a job at the club. And I don't blame him. He was previously one of the club's most tireless wingers, who could also play defensively when necessary. However, that is no longer the case, and we must plan for the future.
Lucas Vazquez is a major liability for Real Madrid's current squad. He has been below average for virtually the whole season, to the point that rival teams have recognized and exploited his vulnerability in every game.
He is unfailingly inconsistent. When the defense is weakened, he is rarely seen at his position, and his infrequent appearance at the back also has no bearing. He is too slippery and rarely seen playing solid defense or tackling. All I see him do for the minutes he plays is run. Though he accomplishes nothing, he rushes everywhere. It's high time the 33-year-old left Real Madrid permanently.
2. David Alaba
Once a legend in his heyday, now a burden in decline. David Alaba's tale has to be one of the saddest, yet it is undeniably true. He joined Real Madrid as a celebrated and reliable defender from Bayern Munich searching for a fresh challenge. And he performed well in his first few seasons. However, recently he has repeatedly demonstrated the exact contrary.
I can't think of anything that reminds me of a strong performance from him this season. Yes, he was injured for a long period, but his comeback has not been convincing. Having him in the starting XI feels like a major bet with every chance of losing. A strong performance by an Austrian is a relic of the past for me.
And the game against Arsenal must have been the last nail in his Los Blancos career. Bukayo Saka mocked him throughout his playing time, and he had little control over his performance. The fouls were unnecessary, and the tackles scarcely hit anywhere. The truth is that David Alaba is past his peak, and it is time for him to move on from Real Madrid.
3. Jesus Vallejo
To put it simply, Jesus Vallejo has spent years at Real Madrid but has unable to establish himself. He has always been average when he has played for Los Blancos.
Vallejo has only made one appearance for Madrid this season and was forced to leave due to injury. He is just not a reliable defender, and this was proved long ago. Long before the season began.
His Real Madrid contract expires this summer, and neither the club nor the player would consider an extension. It is best that he go for good. He is not cut for Real Madrid, and that is apparent.
