Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold as a free agent in a game-changing summer transfer. The former Liverpool defender has settled in well, albeit slower than he would have liked.
Trent has already made some key defensive contributions, showcasing that he's more than just a one-trick pony. As time progresses, Real Madrid fans will surely come to love Trent even more, as he reminds them of club legend Lucas Vázquez.
Of course, coming through the Liverpool ranks means that Trent was always going to be good. He benefited from some of the best resources in the world at one of the world's most elite clubs.
Hence, Real Madrid hasn't taken their eye off Liverpool before the next transfer window.
Real Madrid now eyes Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool
According to a report from MARCA, Real Madrid is interested in signing Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool. His Liverpool contract runs out after this season, and so far, he continues to reject any proposal from Liverpool.
Konaté remains calm about the situation. He understands that he's in full control, and that both Liverpool and Real Madrid want him. From the player's perspective, whatever will be will be.
Of course, Real Madrid fans hope that he continues to reject new contract proposals. It would be an incredible addition to their squad, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold. The two have a great working relationship, and Konaté is used to working alongside Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni at the international level.
Konaté is often under fire at Liverpool for his defensive output this season. For whatever reason, the French defender has not been up to scratch.
It's fair to say, though, that no Liverpool player has covered themself in glory at the beginning of this season, except from perhaps Hugo Ekitike.
Liverpool has been underwhelming in their first season back as champions. Arne Slot has a perfect record so far this season, but each of the three matches has been a struggle for fans to watch. Liverpool has often left it late, and their defending has left a lot to be desired.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid knows that Ibrahima Konaté remains an exceptional defender. He is just out of form currently, but heck, Trent went through bad periods of form himself in a Liverpool jersey.
Alongside Konaté, Real Madrid is also targeting his French teammate William Saliba. Arsenal will be much harder to bargain with than Liverpool, since Arsenal has the added security of a longer contract than Liverpool does on their player.
