Real Madrid visit the Estadio da Luz tonight (January 28th) and face Benfica in the last matchweek of the Champions League's league phase. All that is needed is a point for Alvaro Arbeloa's men to book their place in the knockout rounds.
It's been an impressive turnaround over the past week and the best performance of Arbeloa's reign thus far came in Europe. His side thrashed AS Monaco 6-1 at the Estadio Bernabeu to make a statement that they should be one of the tournament's favorites.
As things stand Madrid would likely face either Inter Milan, Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen or Olympique Marseille in the last 16. It's not given that this will be the case though because other results could change the situation.
Arbeloa taking risk with Madrid star
Arbeloa's team selection has reportedly already been revealed and he makes one change from the win over Monaco. Eduardo Camavinga drops out of the XI after playing at left-back and is replaced by Alvaro Carreras.
But Arbeloa will be wary of starting Jude Bellingham in Portugal tonight and if his side are in a comfortable position he might be eager to bring him off in the second half. That's because the English midfielder is one booking away from missing the first leg of a potential last 16 tie.
Bellingham has picked up two yellow cards so far during the European campaign. He'd be a massive miss if he were to be suspended for the next round.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form, registering two goals and one assist in six Champions League games. He recovered from shoulder surgery earlier this season and has been an ever-present since returning.
Arbeloa 'honored' to manage Bellingham
Arbeloa spoke ahead of Madrid's clash with Jose Mourinho's Benfica and heaped praise on Bellingham and his relentless running. He told reporters (via Fabrizio Romano):
"A few days ago, 48 hours after a game, I went to Bellingham, and I told him: Jude, stop running so much!” He doesn't stop running, it's crazy. I am honored to train such a top player."

Bellingham is one of several Madrid stars who have been called out this season especially after Xabi Alonso's dismissal earlier this month. He was whistled by Madridistas in a 2-0 win over Levante.
But the negativity has dissipated amid a resurgent Los Blancos side who are firing on all cylinders. Their English midfielder could be key in their hopes of ending the season with a trophy.
