Real Madrid have found themselves a gem in the form of Raul Asencio. He has come in at a time of desperate need for the club, and has made the center-back position his own. Even though they need new players, he has lessened the need by at least one.

Honestly, Asencio had a really slow and sluggish start to his football career. At Real Madrid Castilla, he was never performing up to expectations. But ever since he has joined the first team, Asencio has turned over a new leaf.

There is a sense of maturity around him now, and a lot of good decision making and doing what he is supposed to as opposed to doing everything at the same time.

That, coupled with the way he handles himself on the pitch is how Real Madrid fans have compared the Spanish defender to his idol, Sergio Ramos.

There are a lot of similarities between the characteristics of the two players, and Asencio has finally addressed them.

Raul Asencio used to idolise Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos while growing up

He said to El Chiringuito TV recently: "Ramos is a legend, there's no better example. Every player is different. Sergio is great, his legacy will always be there."

Asencio showed his appreciation for the legendary central defender, but admitted that even though he is being compared to the player on multiple occasions, he wants to carve out his own legacy at the biggest club in the world.

He said: "But I am Asencio, and I want to build my career. I wish I could come close to what he has achieved. He was my idol growing up."

This shows the level of maturity I was talking about earlier. Asencio carries himself well on and off the pitch, and he has shown on multiple occasions that he is mature way beyond his years.

He is clearly not letting these comparisons get to his head, and that is a good thing for any player looking to make his mark at the biggest club in the world.
