Real Madrid will lock horns with Juventus in the round‑of‑16 match at the Club World Cup, and fans are very excited to see the Bianconeri after many years.

The last time the two giants clashed was in the 2017/18 Champions League quarterfinals, which Los Blancos won 4‑3 on aggregate.

Real Madrid have gradually improved in the Club World Cup over the three games they have played. The first was very average but not unexpected. The second was slightly better, and the third against Salzburg was the best by far under Xabi Alonso.

Now that it is time for the knockout phase against a familiar foe, an unexpected update from the Old Lady has boosted Real Madrid morale.

In the match against Manchester City, standout Juventus right‑back Nicolo Savona suffered an injury to his left ankle, and the club has confirmed that he will miss the rest of the competition, ruling him out of the game against Real Madrid.

Real Madrid aim to win the Club World Cup

Real Madrid have been clear from day one that they want to win the Club World Cup in its new format and inaugural edition.

Beating Juventus will be crucial for Madrid to realise this goal. I personally think it should not be very difficult. Juventus are a good team but clearly not as good right now and have several on‑field issues of their own.

Juventus are building a fragmented team and are clearly not in their best shape. They finished only fourth in the league. Although Real Madrid did not do much last season either, Los Blancos look far more organised and coordinated than their upcoming opponents.

Savona is one of the most important defenders in the Juventus setup and has contributed a great deal for them in the Club World Cup. He was arguably one of their best, and his unfortunate injury comes as a significant boost for Madrid.

The road ahead in the Club World Cup will only get tougher. If they beat Juventus, Madrid will face either Dortmund or Monterrey, who are scheduled to face off six hours after Madrid’s kick‑off.
