Real Madrid have reportedly joined Manchester United and Liverpool in the race for one of English football's rising stars. Los Blancos have already set their sights on Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton but are now eyeing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Mateus Mane.
That's according to Ekrem Konur who claims Madrid are "scouting" the 18-year-old Wolves talent. He has burst on the scene with impressive performances this season and is likely to be on the move this summer.
Wolves are rock-bottom in the Premier League and relegation seems certain for Rob Edwards' side. That could open the door for Mane to depart and he won't be short of options if he does bid farewell to Molineux.
Madrid mad for Mane
Madrid, United and Liverpool are all sending scouts to watch Mane, who has appeared 18 times in the league, posting two goals and as many assists. He is a pacey winger with clinical finishing abilities and an entertaining style of play.
German clubs Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are monitoring the English teenage prospect. Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester City have also been scouting him ahead of the summer transfer window.
Mane fits Madrid's current transfer strategy of signing youth who can develop into top talent. He could be available for £45-50m although Wolves' likely relegation will be factored into a valuation of the England U18 international.
A perfect Vinicius back up
Madrid do have plenty of attacking options that can take up different positions in the frontline. But a young left-winger to play backup to Vinicius Junior could be ideal next season.
Vinicius is expected to sign a new deal with Los Blancos and there would be little chance of Mane displacing the 25-year-old. But he has the potential to become a long-term starter at the Bernabeu and eventually take the Brazilian superstar's role.
The potential fee required to sign Mane is reasonable given his age and the growing interest from European clubs. He has just over three years on his contract with Wolves and there is talk in England of him soon earning a call up to the national team.
A move for Mane would be the latest teenager to be targeted by Los Blancos and could be one of several to arrive in the summer. The La Liga giants are also showing interest in Bournemouth striker Junior Kroupi who is earning Kylian Mbappe comparisons.
