It's safe to say this season has been a disaster for Real Madrid. A combination of injuries, poor management, and an overall drop in form from a number of key players has culminated in a season that seems to be over by March. As if the losses on the pitch haven't been bad enough, Real's injury crisis has now hit a high, taking this season from bad to worse.

As announced by Real Madrid via an official club statement, Rodrygo has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and torn meniscus in his right leg suffered during Real's 1-0 loss to Getafe, and will be out for an extended period of time.

Another nightmare for Rodrygo and Real Madrid

As if Real Madrid's injury problems weren't bad enough, Rodrygo tearing his ACL is the icing on the cake. The Brazilian had just returned from a stint on the sidelines, and will now be returning there as he is expected to be out for around 6-7 months. Add Rodrygo's injury with Mbappe's and Jude Bellingham's and the atrocious form of Franco Mastantuono, and Real Madrid's attack went from one of Europe's strongest to one of the weakest.

The Brazilian seemed to suffer his injury in the 66th minute, and continued playing for another 30 minutes, finishing the game, potentially making his injury even worse. Why exactly Rodrygo was allowed to continue playing when he was clearly in pain confuses many, and must bring into question the medical staff at the club. Real Madrid have suffered six ACL injuries in the last two and a half years, leaving many to question what is going on at the club?

Kylian Mbappe is also reportedly frustrated with the medical staff for their treatment (or lack thereof) for his knee injury, which has only gotten worse, forcing the Frenchman to take things into his own hands to see specialists in France.

As if the results on the pitch weren't bad enough, Rodrygo's injury pretty much signals the end of Real Madrid's season and it's only the first week of March. With Rodrygo out for 6-7 months, Mbappe out for who knows how long, and Bellingham out till possibly mid-April (but the medical staff are still unsure), Real Madrid's attack is now fully relient of players like Vinicius Jr, Gonzalo Garcia, Brahim Diaz, and Arda Guler, and these last few months of the season could make the recent losses to Osasuna and Getafe look generous when all is said and done.
