Real Madrid have not been active in January transfer windows in recent years but this time around, they might have no choice but to make an addition or two. That is because injuries have left them in a bad position and one cannot expect Carlo Ancelotti to constantly pull rabbits out of his magic hat. The club need to back him as well.
Centre-back might very well be their biggest area of worry right now. Antonio Rudiger and Jesus Vallejo are the only two options they have in the position.
That is because Eder Militao recently suffered an ACL injury for the second-straight season and is not expected to return in this campaign. On the other hand, David Alaba is still out of action.
Dani Carvajal and Aurelien Tchouameni, two players who have filled in at centre-back in times of need, are also out injured. And the club never replaced Nacho Fernandez in the first place.
Spain international ready to listen to Real Madrid offer
One of the players Real Madrid have been linked is Aymeric Laporte. The Spanish centre-back currently plays for Al-Nassr but is ready to listen to what Los Blancos have to say. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, he told El Larguero:
"Iβd obviously listen to ππππ₯ ππππ«π’π πππ₯π₯β¦ you canβt ignore that."
Laporte might be playing for Al-Nassr right now but he is still capable of performing at the highest level. He proved in the summer by playing an integral part in Spain's EURO Champiomship win. In the past, he has enjoyed a lot of success at Manchester City as well.
So, Laporte is someone who could be a good fit for Real Madrid and the club would need to shell out significant transfer fee to sign him either. At 30 years old, he should have plenty of football left in the tank although, he does have an injury history.
