Real Madrid have had a good season so far. Despite a slow start, Real Madrid are currently sitting in 2nd position in La Liga, and they have successfully managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Even after injuries to multiple key players, Real Madrid's players have shown incredible grit and character. Here’s a look at the best and the worst players of Real Madrid this season.

Despite early struggles, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has proven his critics wrong once again

The first few months for Kylian Mbappé in the Royal White jersey were rough. He was suffering from a lack of confidence and needed time to settle in. However, some pundits and fans started doubting the French forward and even went so far as to term his move to Real Madrid a failure.

Fast forward to March 2025, and Mbappé has proven all his critics wrong, emerging as Real Madrid's best player so far. During the difficult period at the start, Mbappé kept his head down and worked on himself and came all guns blazing in the latter half of the season.

With a significant number of games still left to be played, the Frenchman has already scored 31 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid and provided four assists. He is currently the highest scorer for Real Madrid this season. He is also the second-highest scorer in La Liga and may well finish the season as the top goal-getter.

In addition to his performances in La Liga, he has been incredible in the Champions League as well. Mbappé played a key role in Real Madrid’s win against Manchester City in the Champions League playoffs, scoring a hat-trick in the second leg to seal their spot in the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid management is delighted with the Frenchman’s recent performances. In January, Carlo Ancelotti praised the Frenchman in an interview, calling him the "best centre-forward in the world".

Mbappé has yet to win a Champions League in his career. Real Madrid is looking to win their 16th Champions League title this season. So, let’s hope that the Frenchman continues his form and finally gets his hands on the Champions League trophy this season with Los Blancos.

Although most of the players in Real Madrid have had a good season so far, some players have performed poorly. One of them is Lucas Vázquez, who may leave the club at the end of the season. The Spaniard was the first player to be given the opportunity to play at the right-back position after Carvajal suffered an ACL injury early in the season.

Vázquez failed to capitalize on the opportunity when the team needed him the most and couldn’t step up in vital moments. His defensive lapses led to the team losing some crucial points. He has since been replaced by Fede Valverde, who has done an admirable job even while playing out of position.

Except for this season, one can’t deny that Vázquez has been solid for Real Madrid and has helped the team whenever his services were required. There’s no doubt that he is a Madridista through and through. Let’s hope Vázquez manages to improve his performances and get back to his best.

Real Madrid are still in the hunt for three major trophies. The team must give it their all in these crucial stages of the season to try to win them all. Every match counts, and the team has to perform at the highest level. Everyone knows what Real Madrid is capable of. Whenever they are at their best, they can overcome any challenge.
