As Real Madrid continue to struggle despite having won the Champions League and La Liga in 2023/24 before Kylian Mbappe's arrival, which was supposed to make this squad an all timer, fans cannot help but draw comparisons to PSG and parallels to Mbappe's time here and his time with the Ligue 1 giants.
Whereas Real Madrid are about to be without a trophy for a second straight season, which has not happened in ages, PSG are headed for a second straight Champions League Final and clearly look like the best team in the world with the way they outclassed Bayern Munich as a team.
And while PSG are a united front with attackers who defend with blood, sweat, and tears and a team of no egoes where the entire team is the superstar - despite having the reigning Ballon d'Or winner in Ousmane Dembele - Real Madrid are not a team but a mass of egoes who care about their own fame and numbers.
Kylian Mbappe is the center of conspiracies
Now, the latest controversy gripping Real Madrid is the unfortunate locker room fight between Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde, and all that is emanating from the Valdebebas is disdain and negativity for Fede, who was once one of the most beloved and important players at Real Madrid. Fede does have his own self to blame for some uneven performances this season and for refusing to play right back under Xabi Alonso, but, let's not forget, his hat trick against Manchester City was one of the big moments of the season.
As rumors swirl of Real Madrid wanting a revote to have Fede stripped of the captaincy or even to have him pushed out of the club entirely this summer, the plight of the Uruguayan star sounds eerily similar to what a highly respected player and captain at PSG faced in the 2023/24 season when Kylian Mbappe full ran amok over the club's dressing room.
Back then, there were anonymous leaks about Marquinhos rampant through the French media, to the point where there were doubts seeping about the Brazilian's fitness to lead. So PSG actually did a recount of the captaincy. Marquinhos won and kept his captaincy with no issues. But funnily enough, Mbappe finished in fourth, with only himself and his brother voting for him. Danilo Pereira and Presnel Kimpembe were second and third, respectively.
Marquinhos has always been the true leader of PSG, and it was insane to see his leadership called into question at that time. PSG fans have always felt that it was Mbappe and his clan feeding the media misinformation so that Marquinhos could be discredited and Mbappe could have the honor of being called captain. Now, Real Madrid fans can't help but wonderif Mbappe is doing the same to Fede, blowing up leaks out of proportion to the Spanish media so that Fede looks terrible and is eventually discredited to where Mbappe can get enough votes in the locker room to steal the captaincy away.
