Oh, Thibaut Courtois. How can Real Madrid fans not love you?
Real Madrid were in the dumps once again in the last few minutes of the game against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
They had conceded two goals in the added time of the second half, and in literally the last seconds of the game, Courtois had to make the best save of his entire season to keep the match from going into extra-time.
It was absolutely phenomenal - something straight out of a movie - and it made sure Real Madrid did not have an injury-time breakdown that took the game to extra time.
Thibaut Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world
After the match, Courtois' gripping as well as hilarious quote was somehow just as good, if not better than the actual save.
I mean, I'll take the save over the quote any day of the week, but both were a pretty good combo on Saturday night.
When asked about the exceptional save he made on Marcel Sabitzer's shot, he said: "My last save? I made that save with all my heart and soul. I really did not want to play extra-time."
The first half of it is exceptional and gripping. The second half of it is funny in classic Courtois fashion.
Real Madrid needed that save from him, and having a goalkeeper as good as Courtois makes being a manager of this club slightly less frustrating.
Xabi Alonso was of the same opinion. He said: "In that last play, I thought to myself, 'We're so lucky we have Thibaut'. He is one of those goalkeepers who can win games for you. I'm a lucky coach to have him."
Real Madrid fans are truly blessed with Courtois in goal, and they would only hope that this level of monstrosity continues for many, many more years at the club.
