After the arrival of Kylian Mbappe last summer, many questioned how the partnership between him and Vinicius Jr would progress during the season, and at times it was hit or miss.
Carlo Ancelotti failed to establish a number one between the two of them which was a detriment to the team at times.
However, with new manager Xabi Alonso coming in this summer, he seems to have determined who his number one is between the two, and it's Mbappe. Alonso has already decided that the Frenchman is the primary penalty taker and free kick taker ahead of Vinicius Jr.
Some may question Xabi Alonso's decision to choose Mbappe as his number one attacker, however, this stat shows that Mbappe is the team's most important attacker and that Xabi Alonso has made the right call.
This stat shows Kylian Mbappe is Real Madrid's most important attacker
As mentioned by ESPN FC, Kylian Mbappe has scored 12 of Real Madrid's last 15 goals in La Liga, with the three outliers being goals from Jacobo Ramon, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr. This equates to 80% of Real's La Liga goals in that time.
This streak dates back to Real's 3-2 win against Celta Vigo on May 4th, where Guler scored the opener, but Mbappe scored the following two. This streak also includes a hattrick against Barcelona and multiple two goal games.
Mbappe has picked up right where he left off last season, netting three goals in Real's first three La Liga matches.
The Frenchman looks determined to defend his La Liga Golden Boot title this season and has started out on the hot foot...no pun intended.
There are high expectations on not only Kylian Mbappe, who is heading into his second season at the club, but on Real Madrid as a whole this season under Xabi Alonso.
Everyone is determined to regain their La Liga crown from rivals Barcelona, and it seems Mbappe may be one of the most motivated of all.
