Real Madrid are very much in their transitional phase. Many of the older veteran players are retiring or departing the club for new endeavors, which has allowed the new, younger generation of players to come through the squad to shape the next generation of success for the club.

Of the veterans that have departed the club in the recent years, no players absence has been felt more than the recently retired Toni Kroos. The German midfielder retired this summer and the club has so far found it tough to fill the shoes of the German legend.

Players like Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni were expected to step up big time and fill the opening left by Kroos, however neither player has fit the role perfectly as of now. While the club searches for their perfect Toni Kroos replacement, the former player himself has tipped his hat for who he think the club should look to sign.

Toni Kroos believes Real Madrid should sign German international star

While speaking with Bild, Toni Kroos gave his thoughts regarding a potential transfer of Florian Wirtz to Real Madrid saying:

"Florian Wirtz to Real Madrid? He can adapt to any team, including Real Madrid. With his quality, I think it’d be a great addition."

The German attacking midfielder is still only 21-years-old, but has burst onto the scene the last few seasons, establishing himself as one of the best young players in the world. Wirtz was the key player helping guide Bayer Leverkusen to their first ever Bundesliga title last season, along with victories in the DFB Pokal and the German Supercup.

However any move for the German international won't come easy for any club, including Real Madrid. Leverkusen have set a price tag of €140 million and do nit seem in any mood to budge on their valuation. Wirtz also recently signed a new contract with the German club that runs until 2028, so unfortunately for Los Blancos, it doesn't look like Florian Wirtz is going anywhere anytime soon.
