According to reports, Liverpool have made progress in their plea to sign a Real Madrid midfielder. They have entered transfer talks with the star player.
Arne Slot has not had success handed to him on a silver plate. In fact, he has been forced into implementing his plan among players who were not chosen by him.
To be more precise, Arne Slot has made any signficant transfers at Liverpool. Yes, he signed Federico Chiesa but he is injured more often than not and he signed Giorgi Mamardashvili but he will not arrive until at least next year.
Therefore, Arne Slot would like to bring in some new additions who fit his system. To do so, he has located a Real Madrid midfielder.
Liverpool open talks to land €60m transfer from Real Madrid
According to an update from journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool have already opened talks with Aurelien Tchouameni over a potential transfer in the upcoming January window.
Tavolieri believes that Real Madrid could be open to the sale of Tchouameni. However, it will cost Liverpool a fee of around €60m.
Tchouameni is not indispensible at Real Madrid. While he is a great and multifaceted midfielder, there is growing frustration surrounding the midfielder. If anything, it could even be argued that Real Madrid would look better with a new midfielder in his place.
Unfortunately, Tchouameni has been at fault for many mistakes in a Real Madrid jersey. Such is the nature of his position, he can oftentimes find himself in compromised positions, leaving the Real Madrid defence vulnerable.
Real Madrid are currently undergoing a reshuffle and a change of direction. With Carlo Ancelotti expected to be playing out his final season as Real Madrid manager, fans should expect more key players to be shown the exit door.
Unfortunately, this comes as part of the package of playing the sport to this level. There are only so many mistakes one can make at this gigantic football club.
