Trent Alexander-Arnold is widely considered one of the best full-backs of his generation. So, if the chance came to sign him as a free agent, expect Real Madrid to be in the mix. Los Blancos have brought in players like Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba after their contracts ran out a their previous clubs.

There is a high possibility that they could do the same with Alphonso Davies. So, could Real Madrid end up signing two of the best full-backs in world football as free agents next summer? Time shall tell.

Trent's current contract with Liverpool runs out next summer. And if recent reports are accurate, the English international might be headed out of Anfield.

As reported by SPORT (via TEAMtalk), Liverpool have made Trent ‘several’ contract offers, but all of these have been turned down. He ‘intends’ to leave for a new challenge. Real Madrid can be considered frontrunners but PSG will provided them with tough competition in the race for the right-back.

Real Madrid have one of the best right-backs in the world, Dani Carvajal. The Spaniard was one of the top contenders for the most recent Ballon d'Or, which Rodri ended up winning.

One cannot overlook though that Carvajal is approaching the twilight years of his career. His performances are expected to decline soon, especially because he plays in a physically demanding position on the pitch.

So, someone like Trent would be the long-term replacement for Carvajal. Real Madrid have shown a vision for the future in their squad building in recent years, which is a major reason why they have remained Europe's best team despite saying goodbye to legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema and many others in quick succession.
