Trent Alexander-Arnold has emerged as the new Real Madrid transfer priority. Carlo Ancelotti will push to sign him earlier than anticipated.

Real Madrid were interested in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool in the summer transfer window. However, a move never materialised for him, despite having one season left on his contract.

It was originally anticipated that Real Madrid would wait until the summer of 2025 to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold. This way, they would sign him for free on a pre-contract agreement, similar to the deal involving Kylian Mbappe.

However, Dani Carvajal recently suffered from a potentially season-ending injury. The Spanish defender, therefore, needs replacing in the Real Madrid starting lineup.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the new Real Madrid transfer priority

According to a report from The Athletic, Real Madrid would like to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold and he has become their transfer priority. Furthermore, the report states that Real Madrid WILL be active in the January transfer window. It didn't confirm whether Trent will be pursued in January, though.

Needless to say, Real Madrid need to sign reinforcements in their defence. Not only is Dani Carvajal out for the season, but David Alaba has been on the treatment table for an awfully long time.

Hopefully, the Austrian is okay and rehabilitating well. However, The Athletic did state that Alaba is recovering slower than expected.

Even ignoring Dani Carvajal's and David Alaba's injury concerns, Real Madrid making Trent Alexander-Arnold their priority transfer target makes plenty of sense.

After all, Trent is a cheap (if not completely free) option to improve the Real Madrid squad. While the Spanish side are not in a dire position to count pennies, they have a great track record of securing bargain transfers. This has only helped their financial position grow stronger.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is already a Liverpool legend. He's won everything there is to win at club level and he was a staple piece in the energetic Jurgen Klopp side. Obviously, he has a love for Liverpool but it doesn't mean the transfer opportunity should be ignored by Real Madrid.
