Real Madrid's 2024/25 season is coming to a conclusion, and the club has yet to win an acknowledged title. Two forthcoming games will determine whether they remain in two significant competitions.

Many players are now under evaluation in order for the club to make a decision on their future. Some of these names include Vinicius Jr., who is close to signing an extension, Raul Asencio, who will almost certainly sign his first-team contract at the end of the season, and Rodrygo, who has received a lot of criticism this season, though the club's position on his future is unknown.

Several calls to sign key players have also been issued. Dean Huijsen's name appeared to be ringing throughout Real Madrid's administration, but his release clause remains a source of dispute. Trent Alexander-Arnold is most likely to be the first signing of the next season.

Two Real Madrid veterans have extended for a brief period

Amidst this, two of Real Madrid's most seasoned players, Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez, will see their contracts expire in June. Despite Vazquez's inconsistency and reduced reliance on Modric, the two remain important locker-room leaders. Both are captains, not to mention.

To maintain their imposing presence until the following FIFA Club World Cup, Real Madrid reportedly had the two players sign contract extensions until July, making them legally able to compete in the competition wearing the white badge, as per Diario AS.

It should be emphasized that given Vazquez's recent performances, a long-term contract extension is not something Real Madrid would wish to pursue. He has been shoddy and untrustworthy, and it is time for his decade with Madrid to come to an end. He has been a dedicated servant of the Merengues, but there should be a full end now.

Luka Modric's deal for another year is not yet in the news. The player wants to play as long as he can and retire at Madrid, but the club has not showed any urgency in negotiating an extension. The following months will be critical to determining what happens next.
