Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti have worked together for a combined total of six seasons. Ancelotti joined the club initially for two seasons in 2013 before getting sacked, and then came back in 2021 to win Real Madrid 10 trophies, and hopefully more by the end of the season.

Real Madrid have obviously enjoyed his services in the last few years, especially considering how two of those trophies are Champions League trophies.

However, it has been widely reported that Brazil want the current Real Madrid boss, whereas Los Blancos want current Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso next season.

Of course, things could change, and they have been changing, but there is still a possibility that Real Madrid stick with Ancelotti at the end of this season.

From Ancelotti's side, it had always been that he wanted to stay no matter what. He had always wanted to continue at the club, and would not want to leave unless Real Madrid want him to.

However, according to a report from The Athletic, that has now changed.

Carlo Ancelotti is himself undecided if he wants to continue at Real Madrid next season

According to the report, Ancelotti, who had always wanted to stay at the club, is now reflecting on whether he should actually stay, regardless of the Brazil job offer, for four reasons.

The report states that the wear and tear of the last four years, combined with his belief of the club leaking news about his future to the press, has made him consider his future at the club.

He is also aware of Real Madrid's links with Alonso for next season, and is also looking at the fact that his son, Davide Ancelotti, who is currently his assistant, will not be returning next season.

Real Madrid have, according to the report, always maintained that he wants to stay at the club. They still believe that he will stay, but that could be different to what Ancelotti thinks.

It is the most interesting timeline to follow as we enter the business end of the season, with Real Madrid still battling for three major titles.
