Kylian Mbappe is doing an awful lot this season. He's scoring, he's running, and he's also assisting. All in all, he's done everything he could have done to have a good debut season at Real Madrid, individually.
He's scored 40 goals in all competitions, which is not bad at all. He's broken many records and done incredibly well in most games he was expected to play well. Yes, a few ups and downs here and there, but the consolidated image comes out good.
But why is it that despite this good season of his, the team has not done well? Why are Real Madrid still searching for their first major trophy of the season and might not be getting any practically?
Kylian Mbappe is being let down by his Real Madrid teammates
Scoring 40 goals is not an ordinary task, especially at a club the size of Real Madrid where the pressure it more than ordinary all the time. But these goals haven't been able to create a tangible impact yet.
Mbappe seems like the lone wolf in the attack, but that is not a thing to boast about. The attacking front practically and solely depends on his services as others continue to disappoint.
Vinicius Jr. has been bad recently. Rodrygo is already relegated way down the picking order because of his inconsistency. Endrick is not trusted enough by Carlo Ancelotti. If any name remains, there's a reason I am unable to remember it.
It is evident that Mbappé cannot do everything alone. He was let down big time on Sunday as his brilliant hattrick went in vain. And that game reflected that he is not just left in the lurch by the forwards but the defenders as well. A hattrick like that, especially in El Clasico, deserved to be rewarded with a win, but those at the back did not have the mood for that.
This thing must seriously not travel with the team to next season. Vinicius and Rodrygo need to fix a lot of things beforehand. Mbappe cannot always be the point guard, and he shouldn't be for all the right reasons.
Vinicius, for example, appears to have lost his flare. He can't keep the ball at his feet for reasons that only he knows. He is incapable of making judgments and makes terrible ones when he does.
In most circumstances, a fan's eyes can tell you what's wrong with a player's game, but Vinicius' problem is only visible to him. It cannot be assessed, and only he can do it correctly.
Rodrygo is implied to have lost the trust of the manager and the team. Xabi Alonso may be able to turn his situation around but until then, he might not even play the next few games of the season.
Endrick is not trusted at all by Ancelotti. And whenever he does, he doesn't do it the right way. Again, under Alonso, the picture could be a bit different but not the total opposite, I concur.
Brahim should just be done away with. His services are honestly better placed at some other club. He was bad this season, and I don't see him improving any time soon.
The conclusive point is Mbappe deserved a lot better from his counterparts. The team cannot rely on him all the time, and he shouldn't be the main man except commercially.
The team is not centered around one player, and it shouldn't be. It is not a problem to do with Kylian Mbappe but with the club's style. You cannot and should not expect a player to perform all the time. Football is a sport of 11 players, not one.
