Real Madrid play Mallorca on Saturday night to make it three out of three for Xabi Alonso's first La Liga games.

Players like Dani Carvajal called these three games their version of the pre-season because they had nothing else to work with due to the Club World Cup, and so far, so good for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid have scored four goals and conceded none so far, and they play their third match at home, and even though there are a few absentees, Real Madrid are expected to win this one.

Speaking of absentees, players like Jude Bellingham, Endrick and Eduardo Camavinga have missed a lot of game time due to one reason or the other, and they all are working to be back as soon as possible.

Alonso was asked about the latter, Camavinga, and how much he is looking forward to having him back.

Eduardo Camavinga could become a great player under Xabi Alonso

He said: "I'm eager to have him, because I've had him around, but not continuously.

"That's what I want. He'll contribute a lot, because he has many qualities as a modern footballer.

"He fits in with what we want to do and will have his place. In addition to being someone very well-liked by his teammates, he creates a lot of cohesion among the different players. That's also important."

These are great words from someone who can have a huge impact on Camavinga's career. There is no doubt that the talent is there, but what Camavinga lacks in is fitness, continuity and consistency.

Alonso has what it takes to take Camavinga to the next level, and I really think his potential would be seen by everyone really soon.

Real Madrid need a player like Camavinga in their squad - especially now, under Alonso. The high tempo football they play, with counter pressing and winning the ball in advanced areas, Camavinga is tailor made for that.

He is simply exceptional at it, all he needs to do is find his form consistently, and that is where Alonso could really help him.

Obviously, it is easier said than done, and at the end of the day, that is essentially what separates good players and great players, but Camavinga has the potential to be great. If Alonso is able to channel that beast inside - and that is a pretty big if - sky is the limit for this brilliant football player.
