Real Madrid have made a lot of signings this summer, and have seen a few departures as well - at least, from the Castilla team.

From the first team, there have not been that many, and while it is not the worst thing in the world for your players to stay, the ones you want to see leaving the club should ideally leave if they are in the way of potential new signings.

Be that as it may, Alonso has accepted that, per multiple reports, but his hopes to sign a midfielder remained intact for a while. There were reports every other day that even though he knows Real Madrid won't be able to sign anyone without seeing departures, he still hoped for a midfielder in an ideal world.

Well, I don't think anyone has to look any further than a player they already have.

Thiago Pitarch could be a useful midfielder for Real Madrid

Obviously, the caveat with young players is that even though they can be explosive, athletic and, in some cases, generational, it does not always work out in such a high-stakes club like Real Madrid. However, what Real Madrid have in their academy can definitely help with it.

Thiago Pitarch, who has impressed Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa in pre-season friendlies with the first team and Castilla respectively, is a profile they do not have in the first team, and is also an extra body in midfield.

He is really talented, and obviously, he makes mistakes like all young players in the world, but he learns from them and improves. He works hard on, and in particular, off the ball, and has a profile not too dissimilar to that of Vitinha and Pedri.

Pitarch has things to improve on, but this is a player who, according to Fabrizio Romano, has already impressed Alonso. He has just signed a new Real Madrid contract, and it seems like he is edging to start.

According to El Chiringuito, Pitarch will also be with Real Madrid for their match against Osasuna, and if he impresses enough, we could be seeing another player like Gonzalo Garcia jump up the ranks.
