Real Madrid's new manager Xabi Alonso will take over the reins in the next couple of weeks as the side try to get ready for the inaugural Club World Cup in June.
Real Madrid will obviously try to win it, and Alonso will try to get his hands on the first trophy in this new era.
He will get to play with a few of his teammates from 2014 as well, which is mind blowing. Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal were still in the team when Alonso lifted Real Madrid's 10th Champions League title in 2014.
Now, 11 years on, they are still around.
Xabi Alonso gets rare chance to link up with Luka Modric before goodbye
Modric is obviously leaving the club at the end of the Club World Cup, which is still shocking, but at least Alonso will get the opportunity to work with the Croatian, and vice versa.
He was asked about this, and Alonso said: "Luka and I had such chemistry when we played together. When I left him he became the conductor of the team, for years. He's been a great legend.
”I'm going to be lucky enough to coach him in the Club World Cup and I'm going to try to enjoy him."
Two big legends of the club will come together and cook. This is going to be generational.
It is sad, however, that it will only be for a few weeks. It would have been nice if Real Madrid fans were able to enjoy this connection for a bit longer, but it will be fun to see this once again.
Real Madrid will start working under Alonso immediately, and there will be a few players who will directly go to Miami to see Alonso and the rest of the team, which is also going to be fun.
Real Madrid need to mark an era, and this is the best coach to do it.
