Real Madrid fans have not seen Kylian Mbappe play for Real Madrid in a few weeks. The last time he played for the club was when Luka Modric played his last game at the Santiago Bernabeu.

So, it is safe to say that it has been a while. Almost a month.

Real Madrid started their Club World Cup preparations a while ago, and Mbappe was involved in many of those training sessions once he returned from international duty.

However, Mbappe started suffering from fever just a couple of days before Real Madrid's first match of the Club World Cup against Al-Hilal, and he has not trained with the team since.

In fact, he was hospitalised for a bit too, as he was undergoing tests and scans.

Xabi Alonso gives hopeful Kylian Mbappe update for Club World Cup

Xabi Alonso has now given an update on the whole situation, just a few hours before his press conference as Real Madrid take on Pachuca in less than 24 hours from now.

Alonso said: "Kylian Mbappe is feeling a bit better. It will be complicated for him to play vs Pachuca. We will hopefully have him vs Salzburg."

Well, that is good to know.

There was a small portion of every single Real Madrid fan in the world that brought fear into hearts about Mbappe not playing the Club World Cup due to this illness. I guess it is safe to say that those doubts are gone.

Mbappe was hospitalised, but he was also released after a few hours. He has already started training a little bit by himself, so that is even better news.

Now, Alonso has given this update that is more hopeful than pessimistic. Yes, Mbappe will miss the match against Pachuca, but he may also be back for the game against Salzburg on 26th June.

This means more minutes for Gonzalo Garcia, and honestly, it is not a bad thing.
