It has only been a few weeks since Xabi Alonso was officially announced as Real Madrid's manager, but there have already been so many talking points.
We are barely past the first game, and yet, fans have kept blabbering on about Alonso, his tactics, and the way Real Madrid players performed against Al-Hilal.
It is very obvious that Real Madrid could do with a few of the players who are currently out injured. Real Madrid miss the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Eduardo Camavinga, Antonio Rudiger, and so many other players.
Xabi Alonso has quietly identified his newest key star at Real Madrid
Having a couple of them back would be nice for the club. In fact, according to a recent report by AS, Alonso has actually identified one of those players as his key figure at the club.
According to the report, Camavinga is a player that Alonso really likes and believes that the Frenchman can be a key figure at the club with Luka Modric's departure.
Camavinga is a good passer of the ball, and is a brilliant line-breaking presence, which will help the club far more than it would harm it. He is also a neat dribbler and can do a lot of damage with his carries.
Alonso believes Camavinga will be even more important once Modric leaves the club.
Honestly, it would be quite interesting to see how Camavinga develops as a player. His growth has, in a way, stagnated in recent years.
Even though he can have his great performances every now and again, it is clear to me that there are a few steps Camavinga can take to elevate his game to an even higher level.
Hopefully, Alonso teaches him a thing or two about being a midfielder, because I honestly think he has the keys to unlock the potential of some of the brilliant players Real Madrid have.
