Real Madrid has dodged one too many punches this season. As far as Xabi Alonso is concerned, his squad is in a good position, but Real Madrid hasn't helped itself all season.
Countless red cards, suspensions and injuries have pointed towards a disastrous season. However, the reality is that Real Madrid has yet to experience the feeling of not winning a competitive match under the new manager.
Real Madrid has dug in harder than usual to ensure their perfect start to the season, and this is more than appreciated by fans. However, those fans will not deny the positive ripple effect from one of their key players returning from injury.
Xabi Alonso said what Real Madrid fans needed to hear about Jude Bellingham
Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Jude Bellingham, one of Real Madrid's standout players last season, has fully returned from injury and is available to start in tomorrow's match against Levante.
In his own words, Xabi Alonso said: "Bellingham and Camavinga can be starters tomorrow. They are in a better condition now."
Alonso did not make a promise that Bellingham will start tomorrow. This is a story for a different day, but the good news is that he can at least be considered as a starter. His injury is now a thing of the past, and he really did return from his injury ahead of time.
It's obviously good news for the Levante match, however, it's much better news with the weekend's fixture in mind. Real Madrid plays their first Madrid derby against Atleti, and Jude Bellingham will almost certainly start in that game.
Several players have stepped up in Bellingham's absence, including Arda Güler and Franco Mastantuono, but now it's time for Bellingham to shine. Out of the two players to have had a great start under Alonso, it will be Mastantuono who makes way for Bellingham.
And that's not a reflection of Mastantuono, in any way. The Argentine has been stellar since joining, and he will be given more opportunities in the future. He hasn't set the world alight, but he's been solid, and he's shown his devotion to the cause by dropping back and defending when needed.
It will be a shame to see Mastantuono dropped to the sub bench. However, this is an unfortunate part of playing for the biggest club in the world. You can be an exceptional player, but still bide your time on the bench.
