Real Madrid were up 2-0 on Fiorentina and blew the game to draw 2-2. While the result does not count in any sort of table and this was only a friendly match in which Los Blancos did not have a single healthy senior center back with most of their key players out of the lineup, the result was still a wake up call that Jose Mourinho has a lot of work to do this season to get Real back on track.
Here were the biggest stars and flops of the game.
Star: ST Endrick
Endrick scored a great opening goal, and while his name continues to be floated in transfer rumors for a loan deal, with Franco Mastantuono himself potentially headed to Fiorentina, the Brazilian international is still a bit more likely to stay than go. Minutes at striker will be hard to come by with Carlos Espi joining on as Gonzalo Garcia's replacement, and Real did sign a new starting right winger in Yan Diomande. But regardless of what happens to Endrick, he is showing that he is still very much a key player for the future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Flop: GK Andriy Lunin
Meanwhile, Andriy Lunin's future is starting to look bleak. Although he was one of the top goalkeepers in Europe just a couple of seasons ago when Real Madrid last won the Champions League despite a big injury to star man Thibaut Courtois, Lunin is coming off a poor 2025/26 season. And against Fiorentina, he couldn't save anything. Real Madrid could have had better luck throwing a sieve in goal, and they are going to have to ask serious questions about Lunin.
Star: RB Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold was arguably the best player on the pitch against Leganes in the first friendly, and he was also brilliant against Fiorentina, impressing a lot more than new right back signing Denzel Dumfries as the two shared the flank together. There is zero doubt that Trent's creativity and quality of passing are the highest level on the team.
Flop: CM Eduardo Camavinga
Jose Mourinho gave Eduardo Camavinga one last chance to prove him wrong with a full 90 minutes against the Serie A side, and the Frenchman did not make the most of it. He got worse as the game went on and has shown zero mental awareness or positive development. Camavinga may want to stay, but Mourinho just saw exactly why he won't have him.
