If you open Twitter and look through the tweets from Real Madrid fans, you’ll see excitement and predictions for how this season will go after the huge signing of Eden Hazard on Friday. One thing is certain for certain, president Florentino Perez has learned from his past mistakes.

It may be difficult to believe for some after all that we have been through this season but one year ago, we saw two of prominent figures leave the club in Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane as there was no real talk among the club as to who would come in and replace their contributions.

Yes, players such as Eden Hazard and Kylian Mbappe were seen as possible replacements for Ronaldo with Mauricio Pochettino considered to be the potential managers at the time to replace Zidane, however, nothing was really solid.

We fans slowly began to realize that Perez had decided to trust the team he currently had with a few minor additions in players such as Thibaut Courtois and Mariano Diaz. Even Vinícius Júnior was expected to play for the Castilla team throughout the season.

As time wore on, it became painfully obvious to Perez that he had made all the wrong decisions during that summer. Whether it was hiring Julen Lopetegui or replacing him with Santiago Solari, he realized that the coaching change was not the problem as he mentioned in his recent interview with Onda Cero.

Making mistakes is something anyone can do, but the way that our President has decided to rectify those mistakes should be something he is applauded for.

Zidane decided to leave because he didn’t see how he could take the team forward with the changes that were about to come while Perez and him had a difference in opinion regarding what is required to ensure that success continues in this squad. Perez disagreed at first but did everything he could to bring back the French manager only nine months after he left the club.

The return of Zidane brought with it a lot of rumors, yet the club kept things as quiet as possible until the end of the season. The manager made it clear numerous times that he already knows exactly what he needs and the club will try to move forward with those ideas while also accepting that things can change as not everything is in Real Madrid’s control.

Perez knew that he messed up last season and even though he can’t change the past, he is definitely doing all he can to ensure the future is bright. Real Madrid already had one signing in the pocket for this season as the young and extremely exciting Rodrygo Goes will be joining the club from Santos.

Before the season concluded, Real Madrid decided to finalize yet another transfer in order to strengthen their defense as Eder Militao signed from FC Porto on a six-year deal.

The season ended and Real Madrid took things up a notch with their transfer negotiations. During the past week, Los Merengues have announced the signing of a striker who was one of the most wanted players for this window in Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt.

More from The Real Champs

Just a couple days ago, the club completed the enormous signing of Eden Hazard from Chelsea after spending the past few years trying to get him to make the move.

The best part about all of this is that the President is not done yet as the rumors continue to circulate regarding more arrivals. According to reports, Real Madrid is interested in Ferland Mendy, Paul Pogba, Tanguy Ndombele, Christian Eriksen, and of course, Kylian Mbappe. While not all the mentioned players will be calling the Santiago Bernabéu home in the coming season, it’s safe to assume that more signings will come in the next couple of months.

Of course, with these arrivals and the spending, we will definitely see a few players leaving the club. Having said that, it is difficult to predict the futures of a few players that have made a big impact at the club over the past few years such as Keylor Navas, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Isco, Marcelo, and even Marco Asensio.

Everything will be clarified soon but it looks like Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane are not holding back this summer and they’ll want to come out fighting in the upcoming season.

This is a very exciting time to be a Madridista but that doesn’t mean we should expect the world. Instead, we should move forward carefully and take things one step at at time.
