Capable of playing as a center midfielder or defensive midfielder in the Real Madrid system, Eduardo Camavinga should be the club’s No. 1 target this summer. There’s no guarantee Real will be able to sign him, though. Not only are other clubs interested in one of the world’s best teenage prospects, but Camavinga apparently told Rennes that he’d stay if the club qualifies for the 2020-2021 UEFA Champions League. Rennes is currently third in Ligue 1, slightly ahead of Lille.

That said, Real appear to be the overwhelming favorites for Camavinga, who sees Los Merengues as his dream club and is high on both Zinedine Zidane‘s and Florentino Perez’s wishlists.

And why wouldn’t he be? The 17-year-old is already one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe, having topped the charts in tackles per game. Camavinga is a capable passer and ball-carrier offensively, so he provides more than just defensive work.

Real Madrid have the best defensive midfielder in the world in Casemiro, but he clearly needs rest. Camavinga can be his heir apparent.

At 50-60 million euros, Camavinga is a bargain. He is one of the best prospects in the world and is as special of a player as Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, yet he will cost significantly less. Camavinga is absolutely worth the price.
