Eden Hazard and Vinicius Junior start together

Zinedine Zidane found a way to play Eden Hazard and Vinicius Junior on the field at the same time from the first minute onward against Mallorca for the first time in 2019-2020. Vinicius was Real’s most impressive attacker in 2020 when Hazard was out with injuries, proving the difference against both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in huge La Liga rivalry wins.

Even with Hazard in the lineup, Vinicius has distinguished himself. The Belgian superstar didn’t play against Real Sociedad, but Vinicius drew a penalty goal and was the best player on the pitch in the all-important win. And then on the same field as Hazard, he stood out as the best player again, scoring a wonderful chip goal.

Hazard could play as an attacking midfielder again to accommodate Vinicius on the left, as Vini is much better on the left than anywhere else. But Hazard could also shift to the opposite side so that both men can give each other more space and co-exist. That could be a devastating combination. Like Vinicius, Hazard is better on the left, but he’s more equipped to play on the right than either of them with his superior finishing and weak foot.

Either way, expect to see Zidane find a way to get the most out of both of his superstar wide forwards, who have both shown they are capable of starting.
