2. More greatness from Real Madrid LW Vinicius Junior

Vinicius Junior was one of La Liga’s best ball progressors and most active dribblers in the 2019-2020 season, making strides from his encouraging pre-injury form in 2018-2019 as a first-year Madridista.

The Brazilian winger has a chance to start over Eden Hazard on the left side this year if Hazard doesn’t recover his form. But even if he is the second-string left winger, he’ll still make a big impact when starting or when coming in off the bench.

Vini could very well start next Sunday at the Anoeta Stadium against Real Sociedad, and it’s hard to see how La Real would have any answers for him. He had a staggering eight dribbles completed with nearly 400 progressive yards dribbled against Sociedad in their last head-to-head meeting, per FBRef.com.

So if Vinicius is on the pitch on Sept. 20, Real Sociedad could be in for a long night. They had no answers for him in June, and they will struggle to cope with his tenacity and work-rate down that left side. A goal or an assist could be on the horizon for the 20-year-old forward. He knows his third season at Real can be a special one, and getting off on the right foot next week would make a strong statement.
