Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City)

Here’s another popular name in Aymeric Laporte, the 27-year-old centre-back of Manchester City, who wants to return to Spain after seeing limited game time with the Premier League champions due to the rise of John Stones. El Confidencial also report that the Spanish international wants to move to Madrid, irrespective of the club being Real or Atletico.

I’ve previously analysed the case of Laporte to Real Madrid in detail. And he might actually be a good signing with the player being in his prime, and he is actually the most experienced player compared to all other options mentioned in the article. He has proven himself in LaLiga with Athletic Bilbao and has done considerably well with the Premier League giants.

His market value is reported to be around 45 million, and the amount might be worth it, given his quality. He is a highly intelligent player, and despite not being a physical player he can clear the danger pretty much every time. Sometimes the physical aspect backfires, as it did with Robert Lewandowski in the recent clash between Spain and Poland, but otherwise he’s a great ball-playing centre-back. He could be a great fit for Real Madrid, and him being a left-sided centre-back means that he could actually be a replacement for Ramos.

But if there’s one thing that might reduce Real Madrid’s interest in him, it’s his injury-prone nature. After seeing a terrible season with 65 injuries, Real Madrid wouldn’t want to invest such an amount on an injury-prone player, who has suffered a serious knee injury in the past. If he manages to stay fit, he could do wonders for the club, but in football there can’t be any ifs and buts.
