MARTIN ODEGAARD

After a number of loan spells at clubs ranging from Arsenal to Real Sociedad over the last six years, Martin Odegaard is finally gearing up for his first full season with Los Blancos under the manager who oversaw his signing from Denmark as a 16 year old, Carlo Ancelotti. The Norwegian has earned his corn and his patience is set to pay off after staying put to succeeding at Real.

Odegaard was impressive against Rangers in Real Madrid’s first televised friendly of the 2021/22 season and teed up Rodrygo for the Whites’ only goal in a 2-1 defeat at the Ibrox Stadium against the Scottish champions. An ageing Luka Modric and the need for squad rotations in a busy season means that Odegaard is among those who can really make the mark in the year to come.

When the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos depart the Spanish capital, which is not going to be that late into the future, Odegaard will be among those who will be tasked with succeeding one the club’s greatest ever midfield duos. His displays while on loan have made him a fan favourite, and there is no reason why he cannot put in world-class performances at Real Madrid and become a galactico.
