Paris Saint-Germain have probably pulled off the world’s greatest ever transfer window after they announced the signing of Lionel Messi. The 34-year-old has signed for PSG until 2023 and will be officially registered without any issues. Real Madrid were expecting that the signing of Messi would mean that PSG would have to let Kylian Mbappe go to prevent a Final Fair Play regulation breach.

However, that is far from reality as Paris Saint-Germain can register all their new signings without a hassle. According to Que T’hi Jugues, PSG have received a free card as no financial sanctions will be implied on them until 2023 after the committee in charge of the FPP carried out a joint decision.

So what does this mean for Real Madrid? When does Mbappe come then?

This is certainly not good news for Real Madrid as the likelihood of Kylian Mbappe signing this summer seems highly unlikely. At the moment, it seems unfeasible as PSG are willing to take the risk of continuing with Mbappe at the club despite his contract running out in 2022.

Les Parisiens believe that the 22-year-old might reconsider his opinion after such a splendid transfer window that has put the club in the driver’s seat to potentially win their maiden Champions League title.

In other words, Real Madrid would have to wait at least until the end of this year to know their stance on Kylian Mbappe’s future. If Mbappe remains true to his decision of not renewing, Los Blancos can agree to personal terms next year in January and officially sign the player as a free agent for 2022/23.

If Kylian Mbappe decides to renew due to the sporting project that PSG has to offer, then Florentino Perez will have to close the Mbappe chapter and probably turn his attention towards signing Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
