Real Madrid need some reinforcements in certain positions. If I had to mention the two positions which require them the most – assuming the club will sign Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger – would be the defensive midfield and the full-back positions.

Of course, for the defensive midfielder spot, the club will focus on Aurelien Tchouameni once the whole Mbappe saga is over, which I can’t wait for, because this saga has been absolutely exhausting.

For fullbacks though, the market is steeper and even though there are a bunch of realistic right-backs that the club can sign, there is one target that sets himself apart from the rest.

According to SkySport’s Angelo Mangiante, Real Madrid are not only closing in on Antonio Rudiger, but they are also making the signing of Reece James a priority for next season.

Real Madrid need a right-back now, and Reece James would be perfect for this team

Real Madrid have made some rash transfer decisions in the past. They’ve also made some very safe decisions. I’d say that this would be one of the safest ones.

Signing Reece James, however difficult it may be, must be a necessity for the club next season, and it’s good to see Ancelotti pushing for his signing for this year rather than the next.

Reece James is perfect for the club. He can go forward and pitch beautiful crosses into the box, and he can go back and defend, as we saw at the Bernabeu when James went up against Vinicius Junior.

The Englishman is versatile as well. He goes forward, he can defend, he can play as a wing-back, a full-back as well as a centre-back, which is just very good to see.

Real Madrid probably won’t need him to play as a centre-back, but if a situation like the second leg vs Chelsea arises anytime, Reece James would be pretty useful.

Keep in mind that this guy is only 22 years old. It’s crazy to think about how good he can get in his prime, and it’s imperative for Real Madrid to make sure that James is playing for this club when that happens.
