Real Madrid fans received some good news this week. Not only are they LaLiga champions for the 35th time after their win over Espanyol, but they are also set to sign a new center back in Antonio Rudiger.

Of course, Los Blancos won’t stop there. Madridistas are looking forward to the official announcement of Kylian Mbappe, with manager Carlo Ancelotti and president Florentino Perez recently teasing the move. There are other priority targets, too, such as midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who looks like the perfect long-term replacement for hard-to-replace Casemiro.

But the next signing for Real Madrid might not be one of those two Ligue 1 standouts. In fact, it could be a player who is already, technically, a Madridista.

Rayo Vallecano left back Fran Garcia is one of the best players at the position in LaLiga, standing out for his performances with the local rivals. Los Blancos own half of his rights and can thus buy him back for 50 percent, and he is reportedly the most likely transfer besides Mbappe and Rudiger, who are seen as guarantees at this point.

Real Madrid will make their decision on Fran Garcia ‘in the coming days’

According to Fabrizio Romano, via MadridXtra on Twitter, Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti will actually make their final decision on Fran Garcia “in the coming days”.

Garcia recently had a brilliant performance against rivals Barcelona, in which Rayo upset La Blaugrana for a second time this season by a scoreline of 1-0.

Madridistas already feel as though Miguel Gutierrez is a starting-caliber left back and want to see him get a chance, but Fran for five million euros is an absolute steal. Signing a top left back in the league at that value may be too good to pass up on, but it would mean that Miguel would have to be loaned elsewhere in the league.

It would also cast doubt on Ferland Mendy’s future, especially with Rudiger set to start at center back and potentially move David Alaba back to the left back position. Logically, you would think that if Fran joins Madrid this summer, Los Blancos would shop Mendy at the right price.
