Real Madrid have five of the best midfielders in European football, and that is no exaggeration. We have already known about how good the starting midfield trio of Toni Kroos, Casemiro, and Luka Modric is. These are three of the best midfielders of the generation, and their accomplishments as a collective speak for themselves.

Behind them, though, Los Blancos have two emerging young talents who are already world-class in Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga. Both of these men have been titans in the Champions League this season, earning Carlo Ancelotti’s trust as important players in the squad. Ancelotti now even admits Fede is “untouchable” to the XI.

Fede Valverde clearly wants to score more goals for Real Madrid

But as great as these young players are, even they will tell you they can always improve to reach another level of greatness. In an interview with El Club del Deportista, via MARCA, Fede Valverde got honest about how he can help Real Madrid even more.

Valverde was asked this question in the interview, with the interviewer specifically mentioning goals. The Uruguayan sensation agreed, stating that while he contributes a lot to areas of the game that easily go unnoticed, he would like to score more goals and provide more assists to help the Merengues. He then humbly admitted that he is learning every day.

Madridistas will quickly note that Valverde has come close to scoring great goals several times at the end of the season, frequently hitting the bar or coming a whisker away. But I am sure that Valverde will be the first to admit that almost does not count. If it is not a goal and does not help the team win, it is not what he is looking for. That’s the kind of player he is.

You get the feeling that with his rapid development, technical quality, footballing intelligence, hunger, and humility, Valverde will have a breakout season in terms of end product in 2022/23. These near-misses at the end of the LaLiga season have been a hint of what is to come.
