Atletico Madrid’s latest example of delusional thinking about Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s rivalry with Atletico Madrid is not unknown to anyone. Whenever the two teams face, it’s always a fierce game, and it’s very obvious that there is no love between the two teams. Yes, there is respect, because both of them are good teams, but apart from that, there’s nothing, really. The fans don’t like each other, because of obvious reasons, and it always results in intense derbies whenever the two teams face off.

Real Madrid and Atletico had a non-aggression pact valid until recently, which meant that they could not poach each other’s academy prospects. Since the pact is broken, that is now changed, and Real Madrid have already made the first move after the non-aggression pact was broken.

Now, according to Anton Meana, via MadridXtra, Atletico Madrid believe that the pact was broken due to jealousy. Yes, you absolutely read that right. Jealousy.

Real Madrid simply do not have any reason to be jealous of Atletico Madrid

This is just a delusion, to be honest.

There is absolutely nothing that Atletico Madrid have that could make Real Madrid jealous of them. Like, it doesn’t even make sense. Real Madrid have more trophies than Atletico, they have more league titles, Champions Leagues, Copa del Reys than Atletico. They have better players than Atleti, they’ve planned for the future far better than Atletico have, and their academy is also better than their city rivals’ academy.

If you are going to talk to me about the talent they have in the first team, well, let me clarify one thing: There is only one player on Atletico’s roster that I would want Real to have, and that’s Joao Felix. Even he won’t start for the club right now, at least, not at his preferred position. The rest, Real Madrid won’t have on the starting XI, it’s as simple as that.

It’s a report that requires a lot more detail than what is currently given, and what Real Madrid are doing by signing some Atletico prospects is only fair because the pact was broken. There’s nothing holding them back right now.

Atleti are just making excuses at this point, and that too, blasphemous excuses. Real Madrid have too many trophies to be jealous of Atletico, frankly speaking.
