Real Madrid announced their newest signing Alvaro Carreras on Monday, and it is a great thing for the club.

Carreras is going to be huge for Real Madrid, and it remains to be seen how quickly he is able to become a starter for Los Blancos when the new season starts in August.

Real Madrid are going to pay 50 million euros in installments soon, and it is a six-year deal.

The player was presented at Valdebebas on Tuesday afternoon, and it was confirmed by the club what number the new player is going to wear.

Alvaro Carreras will wear number 18 for Real Madrid

Carreras was seen holding the number 18 jersey alongside president Florentino Perez during the presentation, and that is a number a current Real Madrid star used to wear a few seasons ago.

Aurelien Tchouameni, who currently occupies the number 14 kit, used to once wear number 18 in his first couple of seasons in Madrid.

He was pretty good in those two seasons, even though he did not play much - and all Real Madrid fans hope the first part of the statement holds true for their new signing Carreras as well.

Carreras looks to be pretty chuffed with this signing, and he even talked about his kit number in the press conference as well.

He said: "Number 18? To be honest, I would use any number to just play here."

That is obviously good news because it shows that as long as Carreras is able to play for Real Madrid, it does not matter what number he has to wear on his back.

The Spaniard looked visibly emotional in his press conference, as were his parents, as he talked about how good he feels to be able to play for a prestigious club like Real Madrid.

Carreras used to play for the club at academy level, which is great, and now he is finally returning after so many years. It is going to be good.
