Rodrygo's fate has been told, to some extent. His future has been decided, in that he won't be joining Arsenal. The Gunners have pushed to sign Eberechi Eze this evening.
For a long time, Arsenal was linked to the signing of Rodrygo. The North London outfit wanted to add more star quality to the front line, and as a fan of Spanish football, Mikel Arteta naturally had an eye on Real Madrid. This only intensified when Andrea Berta joined the club.
And Arsenal weren't alone in their interest, either. Fellow Premier League suitors Liverpool also contemplated making a move for Rodrygo, but nothing materialized of that either. More recently, Man City has shown an interest.
In a completely unexpected move, Arsenal is now expected to sign Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace. The Gunners were linked to Eze in the past, but then Tottenham took the front seat.
Arsenal cooled off their interest, and it looked like they would let their North London rivals sign Eze instead... Until now.
An injury to Kai Havertz has reignited Arsenal's interest and, in a quick turn of events, it's Arsenal who got the "Here We Go" before Tottenham.
Arsenal is officially not signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid
You might be wondering why this is even relevant to Real Madrid, hear us out. Now that Arsenal has got their left-wing option, they don't need to sign Rodrygo.
Arsenal's depth up top is pretty solidified, at least for the immediate future. On the left, they have Eze/Martinelli, through the center they have Gyokeres/Trossard and off the right, they have Saka/Madueke.
There's no denying that Rodrygo would make Arteta reconsider that depth and make one position his own. However, Arsenal is spending over £60m on Eze, so they will not pursue any move for Rodrygo.
Rodrygo to Arsenal might have seemed like it died ages ago, especially after Xabi Alonso outwardly stated he wanted to give Rodrygo a better chance.
But now, officially, we can put the Rodrygo to Arsenal rumors to bed. Finally.
